Why You Should Travel to Iceland

Visiting Iceland is a unique, once in a lifetime, experience. It offers a mix of breathtaking natural landscapes, rich history, and thrilling outdoor adventures. Here are some reasons why you should explore Iceland:
Natural Wonders
The nature of the land of ice and fire is beyond extraordinary. It offers you some of the most beautiful waterfalls in the world such as Gullfoss, Skógafoss, and Seljalandsfoss. It also lets you explore the glaciers that are originated back in the ice age such as Vatnajökull and Langjökull. The landscapes contain volcanoes, black beaches, geysers and the calming hot springs, such as the Blue Lagoon.
Midnight Sun
During the summer months, the sun barely sets in Iceland as it is located above the arctic circle, meaning longer days for exploration. This phenomenon is known as the Midnight Sun and provides a surreal experience for visitors.
Warm & Welcoming People
Icelanders are known for their friendliness and hospitality. The country is one of the safest in the world, making it an inviting destination for travelers.
Rich Culture & History
The country’s history, from the Vikings to modern-day Iceland, can be explored through its historical sites and sagas. Multiple famous movie scenes, from for example The Lord of the Rings, can also be found in Iceland. In the capital city Reykjavik, you can explore the vibrant arts scenes, museums, galleries, local craft stores and live music.
Unique Wildlife
Wildlife enthusiasts can enjoy whale watching, spotting puffins along the cliffs, seeing reindeers or arctic foxes in the East Fjords, and riding the back of an Icelandic horse. The diverse wildlife make it a great destination for you as a nature lover.
Sustainability & Eco-Tourism
Iceland is a leader in renewable energy, with nearly all of its electricity coming from hydroelectric and geothermal sources. Eco-friendly travel options abound, making it a great destination for environmentally-conscious travelers.
Adventure Activities
Iceland is an adventurer’s paradise with opportunities for hiking, glacier climbing, whale watching, diving into the hot springs or swimming between two tectonic plates in some of the clearest water on Earth. In winter you can also explore the ice caves and catch the northern lights.

Hear From Fellow Adventurers

The itinerary is diverse and served as a great foundation for planning our trip. The book is well organized and provides great details. The itinerary really helped to provide some focus to planning our trip around Iceland and was very easy to modify or 'customize' based our timeline as well as different elements we wanted to include in our adventures. Definitely worth the investment and I would recommend the purchase and contacting them for input as the staff are incredibly accessible and responsive.

Iceland is considered as one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly countries to visit, and the Icelandic citizens are usually very open and accepting towards LGBTQ+ communities. Iceland is full of colorful rainbows!

For most, visiting Iceland is a visa-free experience. If you’re a citizen of the European Union, the United States, Canada, Australia, or many other countries, you can stay in Iceland for up to 90 days within 180 days without a visa. However, check the Icelandic Directorate of Immigration’s website to ensure you meet the specific entry requirements based on your nationality and intended duration of stay.
We have included a full packing checklist in our map to get the best possible experience!
We recommend travelling in Iceland by car and we have included our recommendation of a car rental company in the E-book.
Iceland is not currently a member of the Euro Zone and does not use the Euro, and cash is in general not commonly used so we recommend you to get a bank card free of extra charges.
  • Follow the official roads and trails during Summer
  • Follow the footpaths! Walking on Icelandic moss or damaging it in any way takes years to recover!
  • Do not disturb birds, sheep (who like to roam), and other animals
  • Follow the “Leave no trace rule”: leave natural areas as you found them, including picking up any rubbish and making sure not to take anything from the environment.
